Are you an experienced project manager, able to move seamlessly between project identification, and development to financial management and finally project evaluation? Do you thrive on challenge, have the drive and resilience to ensure that projects stay on track and in budget, and set and observe high standards in all aspects of your work? If so, the British Embassy is looking for a Project Manager who meets that description to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing between ten and twenty projects, with a total cost in the region of £1m, across a wide variety of topics –such as climate change, human rights, economic governance and engaging with the Islamic world. Projects will be primarily based in Indonesia and Timor Leste, although there will also be a handful of regional projects operating across Southeast Asia. The successful candidate will report to a member of the Embassy’s Climate Change and Economy Group, but will also work closely with others such as the Political Team, as well as colleagues in London and other posts.

PROJECT MANAGER

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Management of projects – including maintaining project spreadsheets, quantitative and qualitative analysis of costs, financial control and assessing benefits and impacts;
  • Policy and operational development of projects, by conducting project identification and scoping visits to assist in project design, co-ordination and management of projects;
  • Monitoring and evaluation of projects, in conjunction with project implementers, to validate expenditures and activities, and to assess the achievement of objectives and purpose;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with project stakeholders, implementers and other donors, to ensure that projects remain on track and within budget.
Skills Required:
  • Strong organisational, analytical, financial and time management skills, with very good attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus
  • Ability to work with contacts and colleagues at all levels
  • Personal drive and the ability to be a self-starter as well as a team player
  • Flexible, resilient under pressure and decisive with a proven track record of delivering results to a high standard within tight deadlines
Minimum Qualifications :
  • A college/university level degree is preferred;
  • At least 3 years’ experience of project management for a similar style of organisation required;
  • Background in finance or budgets preferred;
  • Fluent in English (min IELTS score 8.0 or equivalent) and Bahasa Indonesia, orally and in writing, required;
  • Strong IT computer skills using Microsoft Office, required; experience with Oracle systems and databases preferred
The successful candidate is expected to commence employment in April 2010. He/she will be subject to confirmation of a background and security clearance. You must have pre-existing work authorisation for Indonesia in order to apply.

Remuneration:
For the candidate with the right skills and experience the British Embassy offers a competitive remuneration package, including salary, benefits, a leave entitlement and training package. Specific training and mentoring for the role will be provided for the successful candidate. This may include training in London and the region.
