In l 9 May 1997, its name changed into Politeknik Negeri Lhokseumawe. The Polytechnic operated 5 courses, namely Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Trade System. Currently Politeknik Negeri Lhokseumawe lead by Ir. Ramli Usman.
