The Company was formed in 1971 and previously known as PT Federal Motor. In 2000, the Company transformed into PT Astra Honda Motor. The Company is as a joint venture company between PT Astra International Tbk with Honda Motor Company Ltd. The Company is based in Jakarta and currently operates 3 manufacturing plants with production capacity of 4.3 million units of Honda motorbikes per year. AHM's manufacturing plants are located in Sunter Jakarta, Pegangsaan Dua Jakarta, and MM 2100 industrial complex West Cikarang Bekasi West Java. In August 2012, the Company employeed 17,441 people.
