Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana - BNPB or National Disaster Management Agency is a non-ministry government institution in Indonesia which oversees disasaster management affairs. The Agency was established on 2008 based on the Presidential Decree No 8 of 2008 to replace the National Coordinating Agency for Disaster Management (Badan Koordinasi Nasional Penanganan Bencana - Bakornas PB). The Agency is based in Jakarta and headquartered in Jl Ir H Juanda No 36 Jakarta Pusat. The Agency is headed by a chief and since 2008, Chief of BNPB held by Dr Syamsul Ma’arif SIP MSi. In performing his tasks, Cheif of BNPB is assisted by 4 (four) deputy, namely Deputy for Prevention and Preparedness, Deputy for Emergency Management, Deputy for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, and Deputy Logistics and Equipment.
