Universitas Negeri Jakarta - UNJ or State University of Jakarta is a reputable educational state university in Indonesia, situated in the Capital City of Jakarta. The University was founded in 1964 under the name of Institut Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Jakarta (IKIP Jakarta). The University was formed as a merger of 2 educational institutions in Jakarta, namely the FKIP Universitas Indonesia and the Teacher Education Institute (Indonesian : Institut Pendidikan Guru - IPG). The name Universitas Negeri Jakarta was launched in 1999 based on Presidential Decree Number 093 of 1999. At present, UNJ hosts 7 faculties, and 1 graduate school. State University of Jakarta is lead by a Rector and currently held by Prof. Dr. Bedjo Sujanto, M.Pd, replacing Prof. Dr. Sutjipto.
