Provinsi Sumatera Barat - Sumbar or the Province of West Sumatera is a province of Indonesia, situated in the middle of the western coast of the island Sumatra. The Capital city of West Sumatera is Padang. The Province of West Sumatera has an area of 42,012.89 km2 and administratively subdivided into 12 regencies and 7 autonomous cities (Padang City, Solok City, Sawahlunto City, Padang Panjang City, Pariaman City, Bukittinggi City, and Payakumbuh City). According to the 2013 census held by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded total population in Sumbar was 5,133,988 people. Since 2010, the Governor of the Province of West Sumatera is Irwan Prayitno.
