The Company's main business covers ship classification, drawing approval, classification survey activities, industrial services, statutory survey, statutory authorization, and consultancy and supervision. The Company was established in 1964. The Company is based in Jakarta and has 17 branch offices. The Company also supported by 5 Marine & Industrial Units, situated in Balikpapan, Batam, Jakarta, Pekanbaru and Surabaya. The Company successfully maintained profitability, according to BKI Annual Report 2011 as cited by JobsCDC.com. BKI booked Rp51.28 billion in total profit in 2011, up from Rp36.22 billion in 2010.
