Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia - LIPI or the Indonesian Institute of Sciences is the agency in Indonesian Government which was founded for science and research. LIPI was officially founded in 1967 as a merger results of Lembaga Riset Nasional (LEMRENAS) or the National Research Institute and Majelis Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (MIPI) or the Indonesian Council of Science. . LIPI is based in Jakarta and its head office is regietered at Jl Gatot Subroto No 10 Jakarta. LIPI has 47 research centers in all sciences, both social and natural sciences spread in all over Indonesia. The organizational structure of LIPI comprise of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Principal Secretary, Deputy, and Inspectorate. Since 2010, Lukman Hakim was appointed as the Chairman of LIPI. The Chairman of LIPI is assisted by 5 deputy, namely Deputy of Earth Sciences, Deputy of Life Sciences, Deputy of Engineering Sciences, Deputy of Social and Humanity Sciences, and Deputy of Scientific Services.
