Its business include commodity futures trading, warehouse receipt system, and physical commodities market guarantee. The Company was initially established in 1984 under the name PT Kliring dan Jaminan Bursa Komoditi (Persero). PT KBI (Persero) has its legal domicile in Jakarta and was established as a limited liability company under the Government Regulation No 6 of 1984 of dated 25 August 1984. Its head office is located at Graha Mandiri Lt3, Jl Imam Bonjol No 61 Jakarta 10310.

According to the Company's annual report 2014 as cited by JobsCDC.com, PT KBI (Persero) registered a 1.93% growth in total revenue of Rp 44.12 billion as compared with Rp 43.29 billion in 2013. The Company’s comprehensive income in 2014 amounted to Rp 7.47 billion decreased by 71.03% compared to the year 2013 amounted to Rp 25.80 billion.
